What’s Hot in Tech This Year: ChatGPT and Pickleball Make the Cut, While Crypto and Meta Fall Flat

Date:

The tech industry has been a hot bed of activity and development this year. AI has been one of the main drivers of this movement, with big players like Google and Microsoft competing to create the next generation of AI-driven products.

ChatGPT and pickleball, two revolutions in generative AI and computer gaming, have been at the forefront of this revolution, respectively. But not everything is in this year – meta and crypto are out.

Google’s creation of Bard, an AI-driven chatbot introduced in February, and OpenAI’s own ChatGPT have had the industry buzzing. Smaller AI companies have also gotten in on the fun, like Anthropic who introduced Claude back in March.

Venture capitalists have been pouring millions of dollars into the AI sector, supporting research and initiatives. This year, tech workers have been using AI more and more, whether it be coding or research.

Ammaar Reshi, a SF-based fintech worker at Brex, has heard plenty of amazing comments during his time in this tech-savvy city, including the incredible thought that “you can recreate the human soul with AI.”

Regardless of opinions, one thing is certain – this year has been the year of AI. With major and minor companies creating new products and pouring huge investments into the sector, it appears that AI is and will continue to be the driving force of the tech industry for years to come.
