Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has recently announced that he is developing a new artificial intelligence platform, TruthGPT, which will compete with the existing offerings from Microsoft and Google. In an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, Musk said the platform aims to be a ‘maximum truth-seeking AI’ that tries to understand the nature of the universe and ‘might be the best path to safety’ – one less likely to threaten the existence of humans.
Musk had some harsh words for Microsoft-backed OpenAI, the company behind popular chatbot ChatGPT, accusing them of ‘training the AI to lie’ and turning into a closed-source, “for-profit” company that is “closely allied with Microsoft”. He also noted that Google co-founder Larry Page hasn’t been taking AI safety seriously. Neither Musk nor OpenAI, Microsoft, or Page have responded to requests for comment.
TruthGPT has the potential to become a major player in the AI space, thanks to Musk’s iconic reputation and capabilities. With the data science and machine learning research advances of Elon Musk, the new platform has a good chance of succeeding in challenging the larger market players.
