Microsoft Build 2023: Latest Developments and New Features

Date:

This week, Microsoft’s Build developer conference is taking place virtually, with an in-person event in Seattle, Washington and online sessions available for streaming. Key to the event will be the keynote from CEO Satya Nadella, which will take place at 12pm ET/9am PT on May 23rd. Those hoping for a glimpse of new hardware announcements at this year’s Build may be disappointed; historically, Microsoft is heavily focused on software and services.

AI is expected to be the biggest topic of discussion. Over the past few months, the tech giant has been steadily incorporating more generative AI into many of its products and services, from Bing to Edge, GitHub, and the Office Suite. This research and development is showing no signs of slowing down.

Microsoft is an American technology company founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. It is the leading provider of computer software, services, and hardware, with its Windows operating system being the most popular OS globally. The company has branched out in recent years, offering cloud, platform, and infrastructure services, as well as artificial-intelligence (AI) and mixed-reality products.

Satya Nadella is the CEO of Microsoft, succeeding Steve Ballmer in 2014. Prior to being appointed, Nadella had spent a number of years working for the company as a software engineer. He was appointed president of Microsoft’s cloud and enterprise group in 2011, then served as executive vice president of the same division. Nadella has since become a driving force in Microsoft’s transition to cloud-based products and services, and its rapid expansion into AI, emerging tech, and business solutions.
