Which is the Second Most Popular Browser Used Around The World? It May Surprise You

Date:

The world’s second-most popular browser choice may come as a surprise, but the latest figures show Apple’s Safari taking the lead. According to Statcounter, Safari has taken 11.9% of the market share and is now ahead of Microsoft Edge which only has 11.0%. It is unclear why Safari is gaining traction and surpassing Edge, which has been heavily investing in its integration of Bing AI assistant as an added bonus for internet users.

Safari is exclusive to Apple and comes pre-installed with their devices, and the latest version includes several updates such as shared tabs and support for Passkeys. However, some sites have yet to roll out the passwordless feature, which is available in other browsers. Apple advertises Safari as the world’s fastest browser, but unfortunately it is only compatible with Apple hardware.

Although Safari’s popularity on desktop browsers is clear, its market share leaps to 20.5% across all multi-platforms. This can be attributed to Apple’s iPhone, which is much more popular than Macs, which often carry a steeper price tag.

Despite Safari’s success, it’s no match for Google Chrome which keeps hold of 66.8% of the desktop market and 63.8% of the entire browser market. To get a step ahead, Chrome released its most recent updates which save both power and memory, rivaling Apple’s figures.

Google’s Chrome and Apple’s Safari are two of the world’s most popular browsers. While Chrome has the potential to remain on top, Safari came out of nowhere and quickly pushed ahead of Edge in the browser popularity race. Its combined features of speed and exclusive features for Apple devices has made it a top choice for many users.
